Since 1980, the number of children suffering from childhood obesity has tripled. And while our kids get heavier and heavier, their confidence and self-esteem get lower and lower. To make things more terrifying, our kids are also getting sick. Weight related illnesses are growing at astronomical proportions. For children born in the United States in 2000, the lifetime risk of being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at some point in their lives is estimated to be about 30 percent for boys and 40 percent for girls.
